Best-looking Thunderbird ever made, aside from the original 2-seater. The clean, sleek lines were the work of stylist Elwood Engel, who also designed the slab-sided 1961-65 Lincoln Continental.

That was the year(1961) that they were redesigned, to remove all of the clutter like the excessive chrome and ornamentation as well as reduced body weight for better performance, and doing away with the panoramic wrap-around windshield with knee-knocking pillars that had prevailed through the 50’s.
