Is It Possible For A 1984 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe To Get 26mpg City And 36mpg Hwy?

So im looking to buy my first car and i found this 84 ford thunderbird in my price range thats in good condition, and i asked the seller what the gas mileage is and he said 26mpg city and 36mpg hwy. is that possible, and if not would it still be worth buying?

    I very seriously doubt it, I’ve owned both Turbocoupes and SVO’S and none of them ever got over 27 mpg on the highway, but if you were hypermileing and coasting a lot, it’s possible, but in normal driving.. still a good car, but make sure the turbo isn’t leaking or worn out..

    It very well could if the right gears(rear end) and overdrive are used. Don’t forget that you have to keep your foot out of the throttle to! I get 19-25 I don’t, and it’s been modified a lot!

    actually it is close, i tend to think 26 hiway, but the 5.0’s got 26 highway(mine got 12 city)that is a bada$$ little power plant!
